Morrice Transportation Joins U.S. EPA SmartWay® Transport Partnership

January 11, 2012

Morrice Transportation announced that it joined the SmartWay® Transport Partnership, a innovative collaboration between U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and industry which provides a framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of goods movement supply chains.

Morrice Transportation will contribute to the Partnership’s savings of 1.5 billion gallons of fuel, $3.6 billion in fuel costs, 14.7 MMT of carbon dioxide (CO2), 215,000 tons of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and 8,000 tons of particulate matter.  Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas, and nitrogen oxide is an air pollutant that contributes to smog.  By joining SmartWay Transport Partnership, Morrice Transportation demonstrates its strong environmental leadership and corporate responsibility.

Developed jointly in early 2003 by EPA and Charter Partners represented by industry stakeholders, environmental groups, American Trucking Associations and Business for Social Responsibility, this innovative program was launched in 2004. Partners rely upon SmartWay tools and approaches to track and reduce emissions and fuel use from goods movement.

The Partnership currently has over 3000 Partners.

September 28, 2011

Morrice Transportation is pleased to announce that Jeff Reaume has agreed to take over the role of Maintenance Manager after the departure of Brian Walker.  Brian has decided to leave to explore other opportunities after being here at Morrice for almost 10 years.  Brian was instrumental in putting together a very competent team of mechanics in the shop that we depend on 7 days a week to ensure our trucks and trailers go down the road safely with no disruptions.  We wish Brian the very best.  Jeff has some big shoes to fill!

Big year for truck / trailer purchases

September 18, 2011

After the economic downturn of 2008, we have seen a new surge of business as the recession that crippled the trucking industry has loosened its grip.  To demonstrate to our customers both new and existing that Morrice Transportation is committed to providing seamless service with as little disruption as possible, we  purchased  6 new trucks at the beginning of 2011. With the purchase of the new trucks, 6 of our oldest units were retired.  Now, as Summer turns to Fall, we are awaiting delivery of 3 ADDITIONAL bunk units that will add to our fleet of late model trucks. More purchases of new trucks, and sales of the older units are in store for 2012. Stay tuned!
